World Book Fair

New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF) held for the past 41 years, is now a major calendar event in the publishing world. NDWBF 2014 is scheduled from 15 to 23 February 2014 at the centrally located Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.The Fair is organized by National Book Trust, India, an apex body of the Government of India, under the Ministry of HumanResource Development.

The  New  Delhi World Book Fair,is  India's oldest  book  fairFirst New Delhi World Book Fair Was held in around 6790 sq. mt area with 200 participants from March 18 to April 4, 1972. It was inaugurated by Sh V.V. Giri President of India. This biennial event takes place in early February, and is organized by the National Book Trust, India (NBT). Apart from publication, NBT promotes National readership policies and also supports the growing markets of neighboring countries. The National Centre for Children Literature (NCCL), a wing of NBT organizes children events in the Children pavilion to promote children literature and the national 'Readers Club' movement
India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), the nodal agency of the Government of India under the Ministry of Commerce, for promoting the country’s external trade is the Co-organizer of the Fair. Today Indian publishing stands poised at a significant crossroad towards the path of growth. NDWBF offers the participants a unique opportunity of doing business with this growing book industry. It is also an ideal venue for promoting titles, co-publication arrangements and trade. Besides the many literary and publishing conferences and programmes to be organized during the Fair, it also opens up a gateway to the publishing and intellectual world of South Asia. The Fair attracts participation from major publishing houses of the globe. In 2013, the Fair attracted more than 1200 Indian Exhibitors and 31 Foreign Exhibitors.
New Delhi World Book Fair 2014 going on (15 to 23 February). The Guest of Honor country is Poland, while the theme for this year is “Kathasagara: Celebrating Children’s Literature”. An illustrated book for children titled Little Chopin on the childhood of the legendary Polish music composer, Frédric Chopin has been published in English by NBT in association with Polish Institute.
